OOC Series we would love to see: Syracuse

The Syracuse Orange Football Program is best known for its two historical running backs, multiple conference championships, big bowl victories, and a 1959 national championship! Along with that history comes many opponents that have become very familiar with the Orange. Being apart of multiple conferences can have that effect on you. With the new transition into the ACC, many of these old series have been lost. But, by Godly we would love to see them and some new ones more consistently in the future! So here is another chapter of “OOC Series we would love to see: Syracuse.”

Syracuse vs. Rutgers

One program actually is located in the state of New York, while the other has spent the last ten years claiming they own the New York Market. Even more than Syracuse does. The 10 years of clamoring over this gave each school a new and better conference to call home. The Orange boast a 30-12-1 record against the Scarlet Knights, but lost the last two while they were Big East conference mates (2011 & 2012). This would be a quality non conference series for the two to fight over the New York market, and regional recruits.

Syracuse vs. Penn State

This was a rivalry played consistently from 1950-1990. At one time Penn State legendary head coach Joe Paterno, wanted a northeastern conference including Syracuse and Penn State together. The Nittany Lions own the series at 41-23-5. The last time this border war happened was in 2013, with a 23-17 Penn State win. This game has such a geographical natural fit to it.

Syracuse vs. West Virginia

This is a classic rivalry game that now lies dormant. Lets hope when the two programs meet again, they will have a new rivalry trophy to play for. The Kraus-Simmons trophy does not look like an appealing prize to play for. Syracuse owns the series record at 33-27, and won the last meeting in the 2012 Pin Stripe Bowl.

Syracuse vs. Colgate

If you are going to schedule an FCS school, at least keep the money in state, and helping a local program. The Colgate vs Syracuse match-up use to be big back in the day, but Syracuse outgrew their instate foes. Colgate actually leads the series 31-30, despite a 15 game winning streak by the Orange. The last time these two played was in 2010.
